Sixers Name Morey Franchise’s New Head of Basketball Operations

The former general manager of the Houston Rockets is on the move.

On Wednesday morning, sources close to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN confirmed that Daryl Morey will take over the role of President of Basketball Operations with the Philadelphia 76ers. Morey recently left the Rockets organization after spending the last 13 years as general manager.

The Sixers will make a formal announcement later in the week.

Elton Brand’s position as general manager is believed to be safe at this point. Morey is the second major move made within the Sixers organization since the conclusion of the NBA season. Earlier in October, the Sixers announced the hiring of new head coach Doc Rives.

The Sixers appear ready to make another big push for the championship behind their core of Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid.
