James Wiseman Widely Considered the Safest Prospect in the Draft
While there remains a lot of combustibility surrounding names such as LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards, one top prospect has given little reason for teams to worry.
After missing essentially the entire college basketball season due to an NCAA violation, the former Memphis center James Wiseman has impressed at workouts according to Sam Vecenie of The Athletic who notes that “a lot of executives I’ve spoken with actually consider Wiseman to be among the safer players in the draft.”
And what’s not to like?
Raising comparisons to the likes of Chris Bosh and Anthony Davis, Wiseman has a great combination of size, length, and athleticism. Despite the lack of star power coming from the center position in recent years, there remains plenty of optimism as it pertains to Wiseman’s future in the NBA.
“Ultimately though, I do think Wiseman is more likely to go somewhere in the top-five than just about any other prospect,” writes Vecenie.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are on the clock and with Karl Anthony-Towns at the core of the organization, it will be interesting to see if the Wolves ultimately pair him with another big in Wiseman.
