Lakers have their Eyes Set on Acquiring DeMar DeRozan from Spurs
DeMar Derozan’s time with the San Antonio Spurs may be coming up and it appears as the Los Angeles Lakers are set to make a push for the Cali native.
DeRozan is entering the final season of a five-year, $139-million deal he originally signed with the Toronto Raptors. One caveat is, DeRozan also has a player option for this coming season, but fear not as the 31-year old is expected to opt in and test free agency the following Summer (slash whenever next offseason will be).
Essentially, DeRozan may turn into a pretty helpful rental for a team hoping to win now.
Kind of ironic, think about it.
Anyways, according to The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor, the Lakers would include a package of Danny Green and Kyle Kuzma in the hypothetical trade. The move will surely require a few more pieces to come to fruition, but the Spurs may seem ready to take a step back and rebuild.
The Spurs are hoping to move veterans LaMarcus Aldridge and Patty Mills as well.
