NBA, NBPA Running Out of Time on December 22nd Start
The NBA is hopeful that the 2020-21 season will commence on December 22nd, but they are running out of time.
“We’re running out of time,” said Adam Silver – proof that the NBA in fact is running out of time.
The league has made it clear that they would see a massive spike in revenue if they are to begin their season in December as opposed to on January 18th. The NBPA meanwhile views the early start as extremely unrealistic and a very quick turnaround after the late end of last season.
“Given all that has to be resolved between now and a Dec. 22 date, factoring that there will be financial risks by a later start date, it defies common sense that it can all be done in time,” said NBPA national director Roberts. “Our players deserve the right to have some runway so that they can plan for a start that soon. The overwhelming response from the players that I have received to this proposal has been negative.”
The NBA and NBPA are also continuing their dialogue on a number of financial matters.
The clock is ticking.
