Giannis Sees Future with Bucks if “They Make the Right Decisions”

Giannis Antetokounmpo isn’t making any promises, but he does see a future in Milwaukee.

Only thing is, the deadline for a big decision is quickly approaching.

Over the weekend, the reigning NBA MVP gave an interview during which he discussed his impending future with the Milwaukee Bucks. This offseason, Antetokounmpo is expected to sign on for the super max, but at this point in time, there appears to be no rush in Giannis’ mind.

“There are a lot of rumors,” said Antetokounmpo. “Everyone has opinions. But at the end of the day, I will do what is best for my family. I do not see why I could not be in Milwaukee for several years. As long as Milwaukee and I are on the same page when it comes to being one of the best teams in the league and winning championships, that’s fine.

“When it changes, it will not be good. It’s easy, I want to be a winner. I do not care about the money. My family is fine and I can take care of my children and grandchildren so that’s not the most important thing right now, it’s winning. As long as we can win and create a winning culture, it will be good.”

If Antetokounmpo inks an extension this offseason, he will come off the star-studded free agent market in 2021, but it appears as though Giannis is still hoping the Bucks prove to him that they are capable of winning.

“I do not know what the plan is,” replied Antetokounmpo. “It depends on what decisions they make. If they make the right decision, I’ll be there for many years. If they do not, we’ll see. The NBA is business and we can take it day by day. Hopefully we can succeed together.”

The supermax was created with the intention of preventing superstars from moving to new teams, but it appears as though it has failed to work to this point. Money is clearly not the main concern for these players, and for superstars like Giannis, winning is the key and if the Bucks can’t do that, he will take his talents else where.

After his latest comments, it seems Antetokounmpo is willing to wait until 2021, but if the Bucks are able to swing a couple of big deals over the next month, things can definitely change.
