Milwaukee Bucks Optimistic Giannis Will Sign Super-Max Extension
Giannis Antetokounmpo is eligible to sign for the five-year supermax this offseason.
As you probably could have guessed, the entire NBA world is holding their collective breath as the major domino is set to fall sooner rather than later.
The Milwaukee Bucks, a smaller market organization, have failed to crack the NBA Finals in two consecutive seasons despite appearing as an absolute powerhouse on both ends of the floor. Now, they approach a very real reality that if Antetokounmpo chooses to not sign the supermax extension, he may be looking to move on from Milwaukee once he enters free agency next Summer.
The supermax’s estimated worth is between $220 and $250 million depending on the cap.
In an effort to keep Antetokounmpo, the Bucks have been very active in the early goings of the offseason. They have been linked to the likes of Chris Paul, Victor Oladipo and Kyle Lowry, and have been rumoured to be in on Bogdan Bogdanovic of the Sacramento Kings. According to Zach Lowe, the Bucks are not planning on moving the Greek Freak this offseason “unless something drastic happens”.
The clock is ticking and Antetokounmpo will have to decide on the supermax sooner rather than later.
