Gobert Signs a Five-Year, $205-Million Extension with the Utah Jazz

Rudy Gobert and the Utah Jazz have agreed to a five-year, $205-million dollar extension. The deal marks the largest deal ever for a centre. The fifth year of the deal has a player-option.

The 28-year-old centre is a two-time defensive player of the year, earning the honours in back to back years (2018, 2019).

‘The Stifle Tower’ is known as one of the most intimidating shot blockers and rim protectors in the league, and was one of the few remaining marquee free agents at the top of the 2021 free agency class that once featured the likes of Kawhi Leonard, LeBron James, Paul George, and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Now the remaining crop of 2021 marquee free agents are Victor Oladipo, Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan, Blake Griffin, Jrue Holiday, LaMarcus Aldridge, Chris Paul, and Kawhi Leonard (Leonard and Paul both have player options for next year).
