Raptors Have No Answer to Embiid, Fall to Sixers to Drop to 0-3
I’ll tell ya what, it would’ve been real neat to have Marc Gasol in this one.
With no Spaniard in sight, Joel Embiid feasted on the helpless Toronto Raptors on Tuesday night, putting together a marvellous 29-point and 16-rebound performance as the Philadelphia 76ers took home the 100-93 win.
The Raptors now fall to 0-3 and what’s even worse is I just used the term ‘marvellous’ in a blog.
Three games is granted a very small sample size, but boy have the Raptors struggled closing out games. Quite frankly, they have not been able to piece together a strong 48-minute contest and have yet to translate their formidable first half efforts into the second half of basketball games. It’s frustrating and something the team isn’t overly used to given how the past near decade has gone.
Again, there were some bright spots as OG Anunoby and Pascal Siakam put forth big games. As has been the case many times, the Raptors struggle whenever Kyle Lowry is not on the court, but more importantly right now, the team needs a win. Bright spots can only take you so far and the Raptors currently sit at 0-3.
After an abbreviated preseason and a new environment in Tampa, the Raptors have had a tough three game stretch to start the season, but will have the chance to get into the win column when they face the New York Knicks on Thursday. A quick turnaround may be exactly what the Raptors need, and while it isn’t time to panic, it could be time to show some concern for a team that is missing the talent necessary to compete with some of the better teams in the conference.
Until tomorrow, we look at the top of the 2021 mock draft board.
