Nets’ Irving Refuses to Speak to Media, Wants His Play to Do the Talking
Kyrie Irving is in the news again for things you’d expect Kyrie Irving to be in the news for.
With the NBA season a few short weeks away and training camp upon us, Kyrie Irving has decided that he doesn’t need to talk to the media, but instead will let his game do the talking – not how it works, but alright.
“COVID-19 has impacted us all in many ways, so I pray for the safety and health of our communities domestically and abroad. I am truly excited for the season to start and I am also praying that everyone remains safe and healthy throughout this journey,” Irving wrote in the statement. “Instead of speaking to the media today, I am issuing this statement to ensure that my message is conveyed properly:
“I am committed to show up to work everyday, ready to have fun, compete, perform, and win championships alongside my teammates and colleagues in the Nets organization. My goal this season is to let my work on and off the court speak for itself. Life hit differently this year and it requires us, it requires me, to move differently. So, this is the beginning of that change.”
So there you have it folks, Irving will no longer speak to the media – a responsibility of a professional athlete, which he believes he is deserving of avoiding. Whether or not the NBA will allow for Irving to ignore his media duties is another topic of conversation that will need to be addressed.
But until then, yeah, some Kyrie Irvings that aren’t surprising at all.
