Toronto Raptors Blow Out Mavericks En Route to Third Straight Victory
This was more of the Toronto Raptors team we have become very accustomed of seeing.
Tonight’s 116-93 route was a defensive clinic!
On Monday night, the Raptors were able to overcome what was a poor shooting night by locking in defensively, holding the Dallas Mavericks to a terrible 38-percent shooting night, including 25-percent from long range. Backed by the tremendous efforts of OG Anunoby and Stanley Johnson, the Raptors were even able to hold Luka Doncic at bay, who put up an uninspiring 15 point performance.
On the Raptors side, head coach Nick Nurse received a full team effort.
Kyle Lowry led the way with 23 points, nine boards and seven assists. Chris Boucher had yet another huge night off the bench, logging a 21 point, 10 rebound double-double. Norman Powell continued his recent string of solid play by chipping in with 17 points, while Anunoby had a double-double of his own.
Compounded by the Raptors gritty defense, the Mavericks were playing their sixth game in nine nights and it very much seemed as though fatigue was an issue that plagued Dallas all game long. After winning five of their previous six, the Mavs have now lost three straight over this tough stretch of games.
Picking up their third straight victory, the Raptors will look to continue to roll as they take on the Miami Heat on Wednesday evening.
