Portland Trail Blazers’ Star CJ McCollum Breaks Foot in Win Over Hawks
The Portland Trail Blazers took another big hit this week.
Blazers guard C.J. McCollum went down in pain on Saturday night amidst the team’s 112-106 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. Following the completion of a number of tests, the team confirmed that McCollum suffered a foot fracture and will miss a minimum of four weeks.
“The severity of it is different,” said McCollum. “It doesn’t require surgery. It’s a different part of the foot. A Jones fracture is what I had previously – it’s a very common sports injury. This injury that I have [now] is very unique because of how I got it — it’s not a contact injury, it’s not a direct impact to the foot.”
INJURY UPDATE: Further imaging reveals CJ McCollum with a small hairline fracture to the lateral cuneiform in his left foot and a mid-foot sprain. McCollum will wear a walking boot and be re-evaluated in four weeks.

The Blazers were expected to be a top team in the Western Conference this season, but have since lost Zach Collins for the rest of the season. Jusuf Nurkic is out indefinitely with a broken wrist as well and now, the loss of McCollum will definitely hurt Portland amidst a shortened season.
McCollum has averaged 26.7 points and 5.0 assists for the Blazers over 13 games so far this season.
