Over a Month Away from Deadline, Pelicans May be Ready to Deal
Don’t expect to see J.J. Redick outside the playoff picture for long.
After missing out on the postseason for the first time in his lengthy NBA career last year, Redick’s name has come up in trade rumours.
As the New Orleans Pelicans have failed to take a step forward this season with its youth movement, the veteran sharpshooter may soon see himself on a contender again . At 7-11, the season has largely been a disappointment to this point for the Pelicans who entered the year with big expectations with a new head coach and a healthy Zion Williamson.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Redick prefers to return to the northeast area where he would be closer to his family. With that in mind, the Philadelphia 76ers, Brooklyn Nets, and Boston Celtics have all emerged as potential landing spots for Redick.
The NBA trade deadline is still a ways away – March 25th – but the Pelicans may also be looking into moving on from Lonzo Ball and Josh Hart. Other names such as Derrick Rose, Kyle Lowry, and Bradley Beal may be shopped around as well as the deadline approaches.
