Kyle Lowry Trade Rumours Heating Up, Agent Denies Reports
Bleacher Report has been all over these Kyle Lowry rumours.
As the Toronto Raptors continue to navigate through a year of inconsistency, their star point guard has come up in trade rumours numerous times.
There is little doubt that Lowry is the greatest player in the franchise’s history, but as he is set to enter free agency this offseason, the 34-year old point guard may become too pricy for a Raptors team that appears to be ready to move in a different direction. If Lowry is in fact available in trade, there would surely be numerous suitors, with teams like the Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers, and Los Angeles Clippers or rumoured to be in the mix.
Earlier on Thursday morning, BR reported that Lowry has gone as far to request a trade and that the team would look to “reward” Lowry but moving him to a contending team. The claims were instantly denied by Lowry’s agent Mark Bartelstein later in the day.
“That’s just not true…” Bartelstein said. “I got on the phone with Masai (Ujiri, Raptors president) and Bobby (Webster, Raptors GM) and let them know that [report] certainly wasn’t coming from us…The communication’s great (between Lowry and the Raptors)… his focus is on playing for the Raptors and winning and helping his teammates and doing great things the rest of the season.”
The Clock is most definitely ticking on Lowry as the trade deadline is exactly a month away. Either way you slice, Lowry’s time in Toronto may very well be coming to an end.
