Lakers Star LeBron James Provides Sneak Peek to Space Jam Sequel
Leading up to the NBA All-Star break, we received a sneak peak of the movie we’re all impatiently waiting for.
LeBron James is for the people and earlier in the week, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar provided us with a first look at Space Jam: A New Legacy.
The Space Jam sequel is set to be released on July 16, approximately 25 years after the original film in which Michael Jordan starred as the lead hero, tasked to defeat the Monstars. In the upcoming movie directed by Ryan Coogler, James will be joined by fellow NBA stars Damian Lillard, Chris Paul, Draymond Green, Kyle Kuzma, Anthony Davis, and Klay Thompson, as well as WNBA stars Diana Taurasi, Nneka Ogwumike and Chiney Ogwumike.

“In my younger days, part of my thinking was ‘”Space Jam” was so good, how can I top this?'” James told EW. “There’s always going to be conversations about LeBron trying to do everything Michael [did]. But I’ve gotten older, and you know who you are. You know what you stand for.”
As James enters the twilight of his career, being featured in the lead role in Space Jam is truly an honour for The King, and an accomplishment he is very excited about.
“There were a lot of films for me, but Space Jam was definitely up there,” explains James. “Just growing up and loving the NBA, and obviously loving Michael Jordan, and loving the Looney Tunes, it was an automatic and a very organic blend between the two worlds. And it was fun to see what MJ and Bugs and Taz and all those great toons were able to go through in that first movie. It was pretty cool, man, as a kid, wanting to see inspiration from movies and from people that you look up to, and people that you watch on a day-to-day basis. So it definitely had a big part of my childhood.”
