Many Around the NBA Expect Kawhi Leonard will Re-Sign with Clippers
Kawhi Leonard signed a pretty interesting contract when he decided to take his talents to California.
Back in 2019, Leonard inked a three-year deal worth $103 million after winning an NBA championship with the Toronto Raptors. The deal itself had some interesting stipulations and some key out-clauses which will allow Leonard to test free agency once again this coming offseason.
With Paul George already signed on to a four-year, $190 million extension, numerous teams and rival executives around the league believe that Leonard remaining in California is a foregone conclusion.
The former Finals MVP has recently purchased a mansion in California and the expectation is that Leonard will sign a new extension with the Clippers this offseason, regardless of how their playoff run turns out. This bit of news also comes following Leonard’s comments regarding the team’s lack of consistency.
“It’s very concerning. [If] we want to have a chance at anything, you gotta be consistent,” said Leonard last month. “You know, that’s what the great teams do, they’re consistent. They have their nights when, you know, the energy’s not there. But it’s all about consistency, from teams to players to coaches. That’s what makes a team great, players great, coaches great. A consistency of being, wanting to win, and doing pretty much the same habits of winning.”
So in case you were hoping to make a run at the All-Star forward, may be time to start looking elsewhere.
