Chauncey Billups Identified as Potential Replacement for Blazers HC
After Jason Kidd withdrew his name from the Portland Trail Blazers head coaching vacancy, the Blazers appear to be zeroed in on their next bench boss.
Shortly after letting go of long-time Terry Stotts, the Blazers are expected to name former Detroit Pistons guard and NBA champion Chauncey Billups as their next head coach. Billups is currently an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Clippers after spending the majority of his post-playing career on television.
Among candidates expected to be considered for the Blazers opening, sources tell ESPN: Clippers assistant Chauncey Billups, Jeff Van Gundy, Nets assistant Mike D’Antoni, and Michigan’s Juwan Howard.

The Blazers finished the season in 6th place and were eliminated in the first round by the Denver Nuggets.
According to Sam Amick, franchise superstar Damian Lillard has not been making any demands on the next head coach but allegedly preferred Kidd. Above all, he has put the Blazers on notice that he hopes the team will hire a coach with a proven track record and experience.
Stotts has been at the helm for nearly a decade before being let go last month.
