Commissioner Adam Silver Unsure if the Raptors will Play in Toronto in 2021-22
The Toronto Raptors have been playing away from home for over a year.
The goal of course is for the Raptors to be back in the friendly confines of the Scotiabank Arena come the start of the 2021-22 campaign, but at this point in time, commissioner Adam Silver has no answer on the Raptors future as it pertains to where they will be next season.
“It’s unclear yet,” Silver said Tuesday before the NBA Finals. “I know on behalf of Larry Tanenbaum, who’s the governor of the team and happens to be the chairman of the board of the NBA, he’s very hopeful that Ontario will open up and they’ll be able to have the team back in Toronto.”
The Raptors spent this past season in Tampa Bay and finished the year with a record of 27-45. Other Toronto professional teams were forced to play outside of Canada as well due to concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The upcoming NBA season is set to begin on October 19.
