Phoenix Suns, Chris Paul Widely Expected to Agree to Contract Extension
In his first season with the Phoenix Suns, Chris Paul helped lead the team to the NBA Finals.
Now, he is a pending free agent with no plans to call it quits.
According to numerous sources from around the league, the expectation is that the Suns and Paul will work out some sort of contract extension of at least $90-million over three-years. According to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, Paul’s return to Phoenix is “all but destined” and a deal may already be closing in on the finish line.

There was some belief following the conclusion of the NBA Finals that Paul may be looking to test the market, with the Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks ready to pull out all the stops for the superstar point guard. But fast forward a few weeks and the Lakers have made a play to acquire Russell Westbrook, while the Suns and Paul appear to be essentially a perfect match at this point.
If Paul is to sign with the Suns early into the start of free agency, that would leave Kyle Lowry as the most sought-after free agent point guard on the market.
