Coach Dudley

Long-Time NBA Veteran Jared Dudley Named New Mavs Assistant Coach

Another former player is transitioning into coaching.

Jared Dudley wasn’t one to put up huge numbers, but he was constantly lauded for his presence in the locker room and his ability to create relationships with his teammates.

After spending his last two seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers and the team opting against bringing him back, Dudley will step away from playing and will enter coaching. On Tuesday, the Dallas Mavericks announced that the 36-year old will join their bench as an assistant under new head coach Jason Kidd.

“I been preparing this moment for a long time! From deep talks With Nash, Hill, Shaq, Bron, Booker, Beal, AD, Giannis the list goes on.. Very excited to Join the MAVS and JKidd staff! Perfect fit and opportunity… Time to get to work,” Dudley tweeted earlier today.

Dudley is very familiar with his new bench boss as Kidd is coming off two years in which he was  serving as a lead assistant coach with the Lakers.
