Toronto Raptors Sign Pair of Second Round Picks to Contracts
The Toronto Raptors have signed their rookies.
Figuring out Scottie Barnes contract soon-after the conclusion of the Draft, the Raptors have inked their two second round picks to guaranteed deals. Earlier in the week the Raptors signed No. 47 overall pick David Johnson and yesterday the Raptors made the signing of No. 46 overall pick Dalano Banton official.
Banton, a Rexdale native averaged 9.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game as a sophomore at Nebraska and has impressed early on in the NBA’s Summer League with his impressive athleticism and unique ball-handling for his size. Meanwhile, Johnson is a sophomore out of Louisville and was the only player in the ACC to rank among the top-25 in both rebounding and assists while also averaging 12.6 points per game.

With the Raptors selecting 46th and 47th in this past NBA Draft, a number of members in the Raptors media were curious about what went into deciding the order of who was called first. When asked, Raptors general manager Bobby Webster responded, “tie goes to the Canadian!”
