Rookies Out

Top-5 Picks Jalen Green, Jalen Suggs to Miss the Remainder of Summer League

A pair of top-five picks will miss the remainder of the NBA Summer League.

Earlier in the week, Orlando Magic point guard Jalen Suggs suffered a left thumb sprain and will be forced to miss the remainder of the action in Las Vegas.

The former No. 5 overall pick out of Gonzaga sustained the injury in the first half of this past Thursday’s game against the Boston Celtics. In three games this Summer, the Magic rookie has averaged 15.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. The injury is not believed to be serious and Suggs is expected to be ready for the start of training camp.

Meanwhile, Jalen Green will miss the remainder of the Summer League as well after being dealt a sore right hamstring.

The No. 2 overall pick by the Houston Rockets has been very impressive in his short stint in the Summer League, scoring 61 points in 72 Summer League minutes, including an excellent 10-for-19 mark from long range. After MRI results returned, the Rockets do not believe there is a “significant concern” with the injury.

We got a small taste of two very talented rookies this Summer and are excited to continue to watch them as they begin what should be remarkable NBA careers.
