Spurs Legend Manu Ginobili Returns to Organization in Special Advisor Role

For nearly two decades, Manu Ginobili played a pivotal role in helping build a dynasty in San Antonio.

The Argentinian shooting guard retired from the NBA in 2018, but not before leading the Spurs to four championships alongside Tony Parker and Tim Duncan.

Now, after spending some time away from the game, Ginobili will return to the organization.

According to ESPN, the Spurs long sought to find a role for Ginobili who spent 16 seasons playing for the organization. He will now be joining the team’s front office where he will work alongside head coach Gregg Popovich, CEO R.C. Buford, and general manager Brian Wright as a special advisor. The 44-year old’s role will be focused on player development both on and off the court.

Once a Spur, always a Spur.
