Toronto Raptors Come Out to Leafs Season Opener to Support the Buds

On Wednesday night, the Toronto Maple Leafs played their first home game in front of fans.

It was electric!

Kicking off their 2021-22 campaign as a Stanley Cup hopeful, the Leafs picked up a 2-1 win over their Atlantic Division rival Montreal Canadiens and the new-look Raptors were right there to cheer them on. Everyone was into it and the buzz was felt by just about everyone on the Leafs bench.

“Right from the time I walked out onto the bench or the introductions it was just different,” Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe said following the opening night victory. “It’s been a long time since we’ve seen the place full like that. I thought the crowd was engaged right from the start. They were a real factor in the game.”

The Raptors contingency was a rowdy one, with the likes of Gary Trent Jr., Ishmail Wainright, the team’s fourth overall pick Scottie Barnes and a number of others all coming out to support the Leafs, cheering them to victory.

The Raptors will kick their season off on October 20 when they take on the Washington Wizards.
