Achiuwa, Trent Jr. Lead Raptors to Much Needed Victory Over Grizzlies
It was truly a story of two halves.
In desperate need to right the ship on what has been a tumultuous road trip, the Toronto Raptors found themselves down by double digits in the first half.
The second half response was unlike any we have seen from the Raptors in quite some time.
Outscoring the Memphis Grizzlies by 26 points in the second half, the Raptors incredible run was fueled by Precious Achiuwa, who scored all 17 of his points in the third quarter. That was enough to put the game into the hands of the Raptors two closers in Gary Trent Jr. and Fred VanVleet to seal the win in the final frame.

“We just played harder. Played like we cared,” VanVleet said about the second-half burst.
Trent was simply unstoppable in the fourth, scoring 17 of his game-high 26 points in the final 12-minutes. Fred VanVleet added 23 points on the night, while Pascal Siakam and Scottie Barnes scored 17 points apiece. The young Raptors rookie also grabbed nine boards in the win on a very efficient shooting night.
“We’re a young team and sometimes it is hard to stress the urgency and what it takes to win in this league every night,” VanVleet said following the team’s 126-113 victory. “You can’t go out there and go through the motions, or you’re going to have a team put 71 on you in the first half. Then you will be fighting uphill. Luckily, we were able to turn it around, but it’s not really the way we want to live.”
Believe it or not, the Raptors now have a chance to close out the road trip with a .500 record as they will take on the Indiana Pacers following American Thanksgiving.
