Wood, Porter Jr. Both Suspended for Heated Halftime Incident with Coach
What is one to make of the Houston Rockets wild weekend?
Outside of a random seven-game win streak, the Rockets have been arguably the worst team in all of basketball this season. Sitting at 10-27 on the year, the Rockets are destined for a top lottery pick in the next NBA Draft and will more than likely finish the year with the worst record in the Western Conference.
With losing comes turbulence as the Rockets learned this past weekend.

On Sunday, both Christian Wood and Kevin Porter Jr. got involved into a heated discussion with assistant coach John Lucas at halftime of the Rockets eventual loss to the Denver Nuggets. Wood was allegedly benched to start the game due to breaking team rules after missing a mandatory pregame COVID test. Wood only played eight minutes in the first half before being benched for the entirety of the second half. Porter, meanwhile, reportedly threw a number of objects at Lucas in a feat of rage and left the arena in his car at halftime.
The Rockets stated that Wood’s benching was a “coach’s decision” while Porter missed the second half of the contest with a thigh bruise. After meeting with team officials, Porter was said to be very apologetic over the incident.
Both players will be suspended for tonight’s game against the Houston Rockets.
